I recently read a press release about new time-saving software for male online daters; “Discerning Women Outsmarted by Crafty Online Dating Software.” I found the content disturbing and the title insulting, to say the least.
Men can now search multiple dating sites such as Plenty of Fish, OkCupid, Zoosk and Match with one click. To add insult to injury, instead of writing multiple messages over and over again or copying, pasting (which they shouldn’t be doing at all), it “offers easy to customize message templates” that actually pull information from women’s profile. For example; if you mention you like “antiquing and the beach”, the software will create a personalized message that conveys the same interests, hoping to appear as if they actually did read your profile.
I think they grossly underestimate our intelligence. If I received even two messages that had the same Subject Line, had the exact or even similar content, both mentioning they liked “antiquing and the beach”, I would KNOW something was up.
While I am all for technology advances with time-saving features, I take issue with software that boasts “Connect On A Personal Level Without Even Reading Her Profile.” Really?! In my mind, that’s a huge contradiction. How is that possible?
We may be swimming in the same pool i.e. same demographics, ethnicity, interests and proximity however, we are individuals; and in the world of Internet Dating our profiles are all we have to give us a voice and set us apart.
A man that searches for women on “Auto Pilot” cannot possibly be looking for a long-term relationship. I think it goes without say what he is looking for; clearly it’s not intellect. If he is not willing to take the time to read a woman’s online dating profile, it tells me he is not serious about “connecting on a personal level” and also not willing to invest the time and effort required to meet someone with whom he may have compatibility or better yet, chemistry.
As any experienced fisherman knows, a lot of garbage gets tangled in that wide net. I’m embarrassed to say, when I watched their demo search, one of the women’s screen name was “Blow_j$%_baby.” I think that about sums it up.
Men, if you are looking for a casual encounter and don’t want a history of “Adult Friend Finder” to be found on your computer, then by all means, this is a great tool. If you want something more meaningful; slow down, be patient, and a quality fish will swim right into your net.
